It was long ago and it was far away and it was so much better than it is today…

Just in case there are any Gleeks out there who haven’t heard the original tune. I love it with all of my heart.

Against Me! Singer Gets Real
But punk has always been about freedom. It has always been about social and political justice. It’s hard and fast, loud and honest. Even if people don’t completely understand what Gabel is going through, they respect her decision to be truthful about who she is. She’s living her life on her own terms. What could be more punk rock than that?

Nobody knows what tomorrow will bring, that’s why we rely on hope…

Reasons I love this photo…
1. This was during the epic Green Day concert/American Idiot finale.
2. I’m holding Gerard up—trying pass him along whilst keeping him from falling on top of Vanessa Nadal (Miranda).
3. Tom Kitt’s face.
4. Adrienne Armstrong’s existence.
5. I’m in a photo with Steven Hoggett, Tom Kitt, Gerard Canonico, Adrienne Armstrong, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
I am so, so glad I have a snapshot of this moment. ♥

Sorry, for the spam. Actually, I’m not because it was a wicked awesome night.

Short video from Sunday night, just before the final performance of American Idiot. That last sound you hear? That’s kind of how I am about most things in life.

Re-living some fabulous moments from last year.

One of my 12 year old students played and sang Radiohead’s Creep all the way through yesterday. Perfectly. Con brio. And I didn’t teach it to him. I simply told him he might like the song.

Listening, I thought “my work is done here”.

That’s how I feel whenever my preschoolers take out/complete work, without asking for help. I stand back and watch them work. When the classroom is quiet (a productive kind of quiet) and everything is peaceful, I know we’re doing something right.

Right birds can fly so high
And they can shit on your head
And they can almost fly into your eye
And make you feel so scared.
But when you look at them
And you see that they’re beautiful
That’s how I feel about you

Singing along in my candle-lit room. It’s just one of those nights. Kate Nash does it for me.

Another recent museum shot - not sure which artist is my backdrop.

Tonight - we play a show in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Wrapping up spring tour in style!

Remember when I was so flipping excited to be going to this and then my body rebelled? Grr. Hope everyone involved has a phenomenal evening.

Can she be any cooler? Goodness gracious.

This one is a cheat and I don’t care. Empires at Mercury Lounge on Tuesday night. Holler. I really need to start bringing my camera to these things, seeing as one of my very favorite pictures ever was snapped at one of their shows. I want to print that one and frame it alongside this one taken by Tom Conrad. (102/366)

The messy room. It’s in the process of being cleaned, I just can’t find the energy to finish it up. Someone come over and do my laundry, please. (103/366)

Actor Michael Pitt is re-modelled as a Golden Age of Hollywood studio icon in this striking series of performative portraits for Prada’s Spring/Summer menswear campaign. Shot by fashion & portrait photographer David Sims.

(Damn, boy. I have a situation)

I just fell in love with Prada.

only because of this commercial.

holy hell.

Ummmmmmm.

Remember when this little douchbag covered “Hey Joe” like a boss? Unf.

This is almost day seven of my completely unhealthy obsession with Gotye’s, “Somebody That I Used to Know.” It was part of my weekly (two weeks in a row, guys! This is serious) blog, Monday Night Digs. Oh look. The xylophone is starting up in my head again.

It’s midnight and I’m tired and my hair is a mess, but darn it I’m going to post this anyway. If you’re a regular reader of Hello Giggles, you may recognize the lovely Dani Hampton. She has quickly become one of my favorite bloggers and I was inspired by her ongoing series of posts of current happenings (loves, thoughts, events) in her life.
I’m starting up my own little series called, Monday Night Digs. Please check it out if you have a chance and let me know what you’re digging on! My current digs include Empires (buy their new EP here for less than $3!), Mad Men, and chocolate chip cookies. Holler.
